African Vibes Magazine Shines a Spotlight on Celebrating Contemporary African Couture


 LOS ANGELES – African Vibes magazine is bringing the rhythms, dance and pop music of Coupe Decale from Paris to Hollywood in grand style by way of DJ Oudy 1er, one of its hottest artists. With the hit single, “Tchoumakaya,” filling up dance floors across the globe, DJ Oudy 1er has been added to the event’s lineup as the special musical guest. A captivating performer, the singer/dj is the pioneer of Coupe Decale’s popular “black and white” dance move. With sold out shows in France, Italy, London and parts of Africa, Oudy 1er will kick off his United States tour with his appearance at African Vibes magazine’s fifth anniversary event – that is, the All-White Contemporary African Glam Experience.

The anniversary event will feature an “I Wear African” fashion show, showcasing the contemporary fashions of several African designers. The All-White Contemporary African Glam Experience will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2011, beginning at 5p.m at the Avalon Hollywood, located at 1735 Vine Street in Hollywood and will include special performances by some of Africa’s most talented artists. The “I Wear African” Runway brings a new and fresh aesthetics to contemporary African style though the interpretive work of some of Africa ‘s hottest and talented designers.

“This event is a great opportunity for us to celebrate and embrace the beauty that comes from the continent. Africa is rapidly evolving and having a noticeable influence in the world of fashion.  You can see African inspirations on the runways of prominent designers, such as Gwen Stefani, Christian Siriano, and Louis Vuitton, among others. There is no question that Africa is inspiring some really exciting trends,” said editor-in-chief Amabel Niba of African Vibes magazine.

“These global trends are not a coincidence,” she added. “As the acceptance of African fashions become more and more mainstream, African influences will continue to bleed into other disciplines of creative expression. It’s our goal to connect the world to a more positive image of Africa , and the ‘I Wear African’ Runway helps us do just that.”

·         Princess Latifat Momodu-Lamoliatte (Nigeria) | Ravissant International Ltd. — the international designer and Edo princess is the managing director and CEO of Ravissant International Ltd. ·         Oyin Ayoola ( Nigeria ) | Revere – the Nigerian fashionista is ready to showcase her Revere brand clothing line. About the 5th Anniversary Event | African Vibes Magazine

The “I Wear African” campaign was launched at the magazine’s third anniversary event as a way of connecting the world to a contemporary Africa through fashion. The Nigerian Promoters  Association prepares for the 2nd Annual Summit & Awards Gala in Atlanta,GA by Ovacom Consulting on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 3:10am.

The Nigerian Promoters Association (USA), is set to polish the Nigerian Arts and Entertainment Business in the United States of America and in the diaspora. You will recall that undoubtedly, a message of hope for change had already been established upon a successful NPA Launch and it’s 1st Annual Summit held in Houston TX on October 9th, 2010.

NPA  2ND ANNUAL SUMMIT

The Annual summit is an annual meeting of Entertainment Administrators such as; promoters, music producers, event planners, record label companies, Artiste managers, DEEJAYS, Entertainment media personalities, film producers, fashion designers, Arts, sports est. coming together to meet and deliberate thoroughly on how to better improve the standard of  the Nigerian  Arts and Entertainment industry as a one point agenda by the year 2015. In addition, it should be categorically noted therefore, that the Nigerian promoters Association is not politically oriented and will not give room to be politically influenced by any Nigerian politician or political party as the case may be.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS AWARDS

The Arts and Entertainment  Business Awards is to recognize, to celebrate and to further promote the Nigerian entertainment practitioners  based in the United States of America.  This way more talents will be discovered because of the competition it will definitely create. This award ceremony will award thirty-two (32) winners with thirty-two (32) awards each under thirty-two (32) competitive categories including three(3) international awards, the progressive image Award of Nigerian public office and eight (8) Honorary awards. Bringing the total number of awards to recipients to forty (40).

NOMINEES:

Nominations are based on  the available active entertainment person(s) with current material works, such as; Music and Film on; CD, DVD, including Media. Categories consists of two (2) to ten (10) nominees that are selected for each category respectively.

VOTING:

For transparency, an online voting is embed on the NPA website where fans can  cast their votes for their various nominees under various categories of the award and also view the entire result of the voting and who the winner is right away. Voting commences April 20-July 20,2011.

I’ll be joined by Ralph Odua, CEO of Nigeria Political, Ralph Odua a political commentator and publisher of nigeriapolitico, an online newspaper based in New York. Ralph Odua is is a New York State licensed public school teacher, a Phd student of public administration specializing in homeland security, was the publisher of the first Esan newspaper, ESANNOW. Ralph Odua is also, a member of Association of American public administrators and Alpha Alpha USA. My second guest is Dr. Olayiwola Ajileye, a Medical doctor specialized in Psychiatry and Mental Health in the United Kingdom. He is an alumnus of the School of Public Policy, Birmingham University, UK and holds Certificate in Health Insurance Development from the Chartered Institute of Insurance, London. He is currently the CEO, Valor Health Options, A health Management and Clinical Development company based in Birmingham. He is the Media and Publicity Coordinator of Champions for Nigeria, A Global Organization that promotes good governance, Leadership, public accountability and commitment to Democracy in Nigeria. He has authored many published articles and commentaries on Social Policy and Politics with reference to Nigeria Political situations.
