Young At Heart Poetry Vol 9 – A Special Bond One Cannot See

A special world for you and me

A special bond one cannot see

It wraps us up in its cocoon

And holds us fiercely in its womb

Its fingers spread like fine spun gold

Gently nestling us to the fold

Like silken thread it holds us fast

Bonds like this are meant to last

Although at times a thread or two may break

A new one forms in its place

To bind us closer and keep us strong

In a special world, where we belong

Although tomorrow is not promised

Everyday is a blessing to be thankful for

Every moment is an opportunity given

Knowing that tomorrow may never come

And if tomorrow ever comes

In your warm embrace, I wish to stay

For you remain my best friend

In a special bond one cannot see

Young At Heart Poetry Vol 8- Thoughts of You

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
As moonlight shines into the sea
My heart beats a million times with thoughts of you

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
And the sea waves lurk memories of you
For I am thankful for everyday that we have

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
Indeed love has preserved it’s own
Nesting you close to the left artery of my heart
Nesting me close to the right artery of your heart
For our hearts beat as one

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
Through the storm and raging sea
Unconditional love kept us afloat
And friendship built on trust brought us closer

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
Your reasoning and not judgment is the bedrock of our love
Your passion defines your strength
And your caring nature echos in your voice

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
Your geniality blows away wind of doubts
Your love forever binding in your solemn promise to me
Comforting is your sense of humor and love for nature

Thoughts of you keeps surfing on my mind
Embedded in the radiant of your love
Sustained by truth, you have unearth the hidden treasures of my heart
LOVE is all that there is

Young At Heart Poetry Vol 1: Beauty Beyond Memory

When memories cry

When memories fade and die

I’m going to grow old

My passion, my fiery passion

My flaming lust is going to grow cold

But my heart will always flow with molten, love lava

In your name this lava flows through my veins

My heart beats for you

My heart will never cease to beat your name

When I lose my charm and my glamour

When I lose my physique and my game

When I’m old and wrinkly

When I cannot look myself in the mirror

I’ll still stare at you

When memories fade, when I forget the days of the week

And the months of the year

When I mix names, and faces

The memory of you will always shine bright and clear

For your image has been engraved to my memory

I will never forget your radiance and beauty

I will die happy with the image of your sweet smile on my mind

And love on my lips and in my heart your sweet kiss remains.

Share Your Thoughts For The Day – Life

Pray, don’t find fault with the man that limps
Or stumbles along the road.
Unless you have worn the shoes he wears
Or struggled beneath his load

There may be tacks in his shoes that hurt
Though hidden away from view
Or the burden he bears placed on your back
Might cause you to stumble too

Don’t sneer at the man who’s down today
Unless you have felt the blow
That caused his fall or felt the shame
That only the fallen know

You may be strong but still the blows
That was his if dealt to you
In the selfsame way, at the selfsame time
Might cause you to stagger too

Don’t be too harsh with the man that sins
Or pelt him with word or stone
Unless you are sure – yea, doubly sure –
That you have no sins of your own

For you know if the tempter’s voice
Should whisper as soft to you
As it did to him when he went astray
It might cause you to falter too

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New African designed Urban Clothing Brand Launches in London

Proud to be African Clothing announces the launch of their first collection. Proud To Be African Clothing was founded in London in December 2010 to showcase the beauty of African design and African clothing. Proud to be African Clothing’s first collection consists of 3 designs on male and female T shirts, unisex hoody’s, children’s T shirts and babies’ bodysuits. The baby’s and children’s clothing is made from 100% organic ethical cotton and fits kids from 0-18 months (for body suits) and 2 to 12 years (T shirts).

Founder, Chidi explained the rationale behind the brand “Whenever one see’s images from Africa in the media the images are generally negative. However, this is a different reality from the Africa that I and others grew up in. Last year I saw a presentation by Chimamanda Adichie to TED on the ‘The Dangers of a single story ‘which covered exactly the same points about the dangers of seeing a situation from only one perspective, so I resolved to put my money where my mouth is and put out a product that carried a positive message of Africa everyone could wear and relate to that gave the other side of the story” The initial summer collection consists of designs from renowned artist and poet, Inua Ellams (www.phaze05.com) and eminent cartoonist, Tayo Fatunla (www.tayofatunla.com).

Inua say’s “When I was asked to design for the project, I searched for a single iconic image to pair with the slogan ‘Proud to be African’. But nothing besides continent worked, confirming my belief that Africa is beyond a single story or concept and its narrative is beyond the sum of its parts”.  This viewpoint is reflected in his designs one of which was eventually used as the Proud To Be African logo bringing together impressions of traditional African masks and tribal patterning.  His other design is based on the theme ‘Born in the UK, Made in Africa’.  “The brief essentially was to capture the reality and emotions that that statement conveys” said Chidi, “it’s essentially the modern diasporan African’s way of rendering to Caesar what is Caesars and to Africa what is Africa’s!”

Tayo’s drawing showed his Nigerian bias and was inspired by iconic images from Nigerian history and culture with a brief to visually represent the slogan ‘Proud To Be African’, in his own words, “Sketching this iconic posture has to date been one of my favourite drawings in its simplicity. The effect around his hands is my interpretation of Black Power”. The garments are priced competitively in order to spread the Proud To Be African message as far as possible and also, move African designs into the realm of urbanwear. The designers and founders hope that the African themed designs will find their niche not just in African fashion, but in ethical, hip hop and casual wear. With Proud To Be African Clothing, the message is the product and the product is the message!

Proud To Be African Clothing s garments are ideal as a gift for friends or loved ones or as a little treat for yourself, until 1st October 2011, customers can get 10% off all purchases using the discount code ‘Nigeria50’

Young At Heart Poetry Vol 5 – The solemn promise to you:

The solemn promise to you:

To be your lover when you need to be loved

Your doctor when you are ill

Your army when you go to war

Your umbrella when life rains down on you

Your rock when you get weary

Your shield when you need defense

Your spirit when you are drained

Your pillow when you need to rest

Your voice when no one can hear you

Your ear when no one will listen

Your comfort when you feel pain

Your hero when you are under duress

Your sunshine when darkness falls

Your answer when questions arise

Your inspiration to overcome obstacles,

Your hand to hold when you are frightened

Your kiss that wakes you everyday

And your “I love you” each and every night

I am yours all of me.
